Dr. Yusuke Komura is a phenomenal pianist and teacher. He plays with deep feeling and sensitivity, while being incredibly skillful and technically brilliant.

As a teacher, he is patient and kind, but not afraid to challenge his students. I took piano lessons for more than ten years as a child, but after taking lessons under Dr. Yusuke for two years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, my playing drastically improved. He was very encouraging, but honest, pushing me to explore different tones and colors to my playing, expanding my range as a musician, while fine-tuning my technique. He improved my sight-reading capabilities, my pedaling, and broadened my appreciation for different composers and genres.

I am a better pianist and musician thanks to Dr. Yusuke’s guidance and teaching, and I would highly recommend him as an instructor for pianists of ANY skill level. Beyond that, again, I cannot adequately express what a privilege it is to see and hear him perform. He’s outstanding.

I have an experience of 12 years of piano practice for leisure and Dr. Yusuke KOMURA was my teacher in Bangkok until he left for England.

Having attended a few of Mr Komura’s concerts, I already knew he was an outstandin talent and pianist. Even more importantly for me, he was an excellent teacher for technique, theory and interpretation. Mr KOMURA is really committed to make his students progress and therefore can be demanding at times, but this perfectly suited a motivated student like me.

Mr KOMURA gives very precise advice and homework, has a thorough follow up and does not settle for “average”, always pushing for improvement. He is also friendly, so it was a very positive learning experience for me. I deeply regretted his departure from Bangkok and have not been able to find any teacher close to his teaching ability so far.

When I was a child, I took piano lessons for about 15 years, and as an adult, I continued playing as a hobby. However, after starting lessons with Dr. Komura, my understanding of music and piano deepened significantly, not just in terms of technique. In the lessons, Dr. Komura patiently taught me until I fully understood, allowing me to perceive music from new perspectives. There were even times when pieces I had casually listened to before felt entirely different and resonated with new nuances.

In Bangkok, I had numerous opportunities to hear Dr. Komura's performances in concerts. The beauty and power of his piano playing transformed the atmosphere of the venue and deeply moved me. These experiences further inspired my motivation for playing the piano.

Since his move to the UK, I have continued receiving guidance through online lessons. Even in an online format, the subtle differences in tone and nuance are clearly conveyed, and his detailed instruction feels as though it is delivered in person.

As both a pianist and a teacher, meeting Dr. Komura has enriched my life immensely. I am deeply grateful for this encounter.
